FAQs
What is a Quaker-style wedding ceremony?
Our wedding ceremony will follow the Quaker tradition, where couples marry themselves, or "self-unite," in the presence of their community, without an officiant. We’ll begin by sharing our vows, followed by a moment of silent contemplation. Afterward, anyone who feels moved may offer a brief message—whether it’s a few heartfelt words or well-wishes they’d like to share. Once all who wish to speak have done so, we will seal our vows with a kiss and sign our marriage certificate. After everyone has signed, the celebration will begin!
Are kids welcome?
To allow everyone to fully relax and enjoy the celebration, we’ve chosen to make our wedding day adults-only, with the exception of Tyler’s nephews and his sister’s new baby. If you're traveling to the area with grandparents or caretakers, your entire crew is welcome to join us for the events on Friday and Sunday. If this causes any inconvenience, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know.
Is there a dress code?
Please dress semi-formally and be ready to boogie. Since we’ll be in nature, we recommend avoiding pointy-heeled or unstable footwear. September temperatures are typically warm during the day and cooler in the evening, so we recommend bringing a light layer to stay comfortable.
Will there be transportation to and from my accommodation?
Shuttle service will be available to and from The Comfort Inn and The Rex on our wedding day. If you’re not staying at either of these locations, please ensure that your party has a designated driver, as there are no Uber/Lyft services in the area.
Is there parking onsite?
There is parking available next to the ceremony and reception site. When you arrive at Lacawac Sanctuary, please follow the dirt road through the gates and look for signs directing you to the Christie/Scheppke Wedding.
